Thank you for your interest in becoming a poll worker. Our
election team has several poll workers who has given their time to
serve the public for a number of years. If you are selected to
serve, hopefully you would be a member of our team for many future
elections.
Election days are long, and sometimes very demanding, but at the end of
the day you will know that your service has helped to promote the cause
of democracy.
What are the
requirements?
- You must be a
registered voter in Grainger County
- Be available for the
entire day (8:30 a.m. until close of the polls)
- Enjoy people and
service to others
- Execute the election
laws in a non-partisan manner
- Be eligible to work
in any of our ten (10) precincts
- Attend the school of
instruction class (mandatory)
- Take an oath to
support the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the laws of
the State of Tennessee, and that you will faithfully and impartially
discharge the duties that you have been appointed to do.

What are the responsibilities of a
poll worker?
You will be trained
according to your job title as a poll worker. Job titles are - officer
of elections, registrar, machine operator, or judge and each will
have certain duties, but you must work together as a team. You
will report at your assigned precinct on time election day and
prepare to do the following:
- Prepare the precinct
for voting
- Help set up voting
equipment if needed
- Greet the voters
- Provide the voter
with the appropriate ballot
- Report any problems
to the election office promptly
- At the close of the
day, prepare election materials for delivery to the election office
