Voting Machines
HART INTERCIVIC, INC.
During the 2006 election cycle, the Election Commission
purchased new voting machines. We chose
the e-Slate(Direct Record Electronic) voting machines.
We viewed different machines and determined
these were the simplest, they were lightweight, had more flexibility in
ballot
design, and had the best design for the disabled to independently cast
their
ballot. The DAU unit is equipped with
headsets so that a blind person would be able to use the machine
without
assistance. The Ballot Now and Tally
system software makes the absentee and certification process much
easier and
less expensive for the county. We are
able to print our own paper ballots on demand, as we need them.
